Job Summary
As our new Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, you will join the exempt, dedicated Management team in leading Elko Inc’s Winnemucca location, with supervisory responsibility for the Maintenance Dept. personnel and maintenance operation. The job location is at our Winnemucca maintenance shop, with occasional travel, with possible varying hours/shifts.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Direct bus fleet maintenance and repair operations through utilization of Maintenance staffing, inventory, rules, directives and advanced maintenance experience.
  • Oversee upkeep of Maintenance Shop; enforce company policies and procedures, set priorities to direct execution of Maintenance plans.
  • Manage all Maintenance Dept. personnel including Leads, Mechanics, Technicians, etc. This includes hiring, scheduling, developing, coaching, promoting team culture and fostering employee feedback.
  • Track PM and service schedules, code invoices and schedule work based on routine PM inspections; oversee government audits.
  • Review work orders, assign tasks and verify quality of work performed through quality PM/repair audits.
  • Serve on-call for mechanical emergencies.
  • Create and sustain safe and productive work environment.
  • Stay current on maintenance trends relating to industry, maintenance, technology, staffing and regulation; supervise deployment of updated technology for timely, safe and effective work.
  • Embrace accountability and directives from Management
  • Engage in the actual repair of the fleet as required and needed.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with major coursework in a related field. Work experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Requires at least five years’ supervisory experience or experience sufficient to demonstrate complete competency and knowledge of the principles of supervisory practices.
  • Knowledge in all areas of diesel bus maintenance with at least five years of journey level experience in the repair and maintenance of buses and motor coaches and heavy-duty diesel equipment is recommended.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and delegate the work of subordinates.
  • Mathematical ability to accurately complete required reports and manage the Maintenance Dept. budget.
  • Knowledge of state and federal safety and hazard communication requirements, and US DOT vehicle maintenance standards and requirements
