JOB TITLE:       LEADMAN SHOP MECHANIC

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
WORKING LEAD MECHANIC FOR BILLINGS, MT SHOP

  • Reporting directly to the Director of Maintenance located in Gillette, WY, the Maintenance Shop Lead-man oversees repair and maintenance of the Powder River fleet in Billings, MT.
  • The lead works closely with the Director of Maintenance, other Department Heads, Technicians, Regional Managers and all Maintenance Employees.
  • The lead oversees and supervises all work for the maintenance crew, assigns projects, coordinates progress, manages all aspects of workforce development, as well as assists in the disciplinary process.
  • This position requires a secondary role as a working technician (Mechanic) with a split of time spent working as a Lead Mechanic.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1 years of management experience
  • Motor Coach  Maintenance experience
  • Completion of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalency
  • Working knowledge of motor carrier rules & regulations under MT and US DOT
  • Moderate application knowledge of modern computer and office technology
  • Working knowledge Experience in Motorcoach Diagnostics
  • Strong ability to manage people and workplace interactions, including disciplinary procedures
  • Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License
  • Ability to communicate fluently in the English language
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience that meets the classification pre-requisites.
     
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Management Supervisory experience
  • Advanced working knowledge of the Motorcoach transportation industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Direct the maintenance, repair and safe operation of all commercial vehicles
  • Oversees the overall upkeep of the building and property
  • Purchases parts and supplies as needed for the operation
  • Coordinates work schedules for technicians and cleaners
  • Tracks equipment for service and preventive maintenance
  • Serves as on-call for mechanical emergencies
  • Enforces company policies and procedures
  • Reviews work orders, assign tasks to employees and verify the quality of work performed by doing quality pm and repair audits
  • Schedules work to be performed based on routine preventive maintenance inspections
  • Maintains a safe and productive work environment
  • Troubleshoots and evaluate options to determine the best course of action
  • Promotes team building and coaching skills
  • Employs a strong sense of negotiation skills
  • Applies analysis of projects and coordinates accordingly
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to lift 70 pounds at one time
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions, including outdoors
  • Minimal Travel (travel to outlying locations may be necessary)

  • Ability to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, special days, etc.
